HiYakkers,

I saw an ad in the new "Birding" Magazine for The SongFinder, a type of
hearing aid for birders who can't hear the higher-pitched bird songs. I
have to admit I am in that category.

Most hearing aid won't work for birders because they can't amplify the very
high-pitched songs. They work mostly in the mid-range. The SongFinder
works by slowing down the song, thus lowering it to a pitch the user can
hear. There are three settings -- low, lower and lowest (my
terms). There is a page on their website where you can listen to actual
songs at normal pitch (I couldn't hear most of those) and the three lower
pitches.

Here is a link to The SongFinder website:

The device is fairly expensive -- $750. I'm already thinking about asking
Santa Claus for one for Christmas.
