Today I did some birding on Whidbey Island and in Whatcom County. The weather was foggy most of the day on Whidbey Island, and later in the afternoon in the Skagit Flats, but I had a good time revisiting some spots that I haven't been to in some time. Highlights of the trip were:

Short-eared Owl - (6 of them seen at the West 90 in the Samish Flats)

Rough-legged Hawk - (3 at the Samish West 90 and 1 at the Hayton Reserve in the Skagit Flats)

Marbled Murrelet - (a pair at Deception Pass State Park)

Black Oystercatcher - (a pair at Deception Pass State Park)

Peregrine Falcon - (1 at Penn Cove on Whidbey Island)

Clay-colored Sparrow - (I stopped by the Freeland City Park, where I met Steve and Martha Ellis, and the bird cooperated for us, and we had decent looks)
