Subject: [Tweeters] Snowy Owls

For those keeping count, SNOWY OWLS were reported from parking
lot C at Ft Stevens State Park and from Seaview Beach on the
Long Beach Pennisula yesterday.

Snowy Owls were also reported on I-5 near Wilsonville (eventually
taken out by freeway traffic) and at Bullard's Beach State Park
in Coos Co.

The timing and magnitude appears to match the irruption of 1996-97.

Watch out for higher than average numbers of SHORT-EARED and
BURROWING OWLS (and birds in unexpected spots), as well as the
species that get all the attention (hawk-owls and Great Grays).
