Hi Tweets,

Six birders beat the bushes and stalked the sparrows for about an
hour at mid-day today. We had fleeting looks at the Clay-colored
Sparrow until about 12:30 p.m. when it perched on a rose branch and
then fed on the seeds of a tall grass surrounding the rose bush. We
then had good observations of the gray nape, white malars, and the
crown. We saw it among the White-crowned Sparrows enough to really
appreciate its smaller size. There were four Island birders, Wayne
Weber and myself.

Other birds seen at Freeland Park included one adult Bald Eagle, a
Cooper's Hawk, Song Sparrow, House Finch, Bufflehead, Mallard,
Glaucous-winged Gull, and Mew Gull.

It was nice to get out of the fog up on Whidbey.
