Thanks EVERYONE for your responses regarding the owls. It seems as if I
have a male/female pair in the neighborhood. The calls are
distinguishable, one being a 5 note, the other a 4 note call. One is
lower pitched (the 5 note), one higher (the 4 note). So, seems the 5
note bird is the male and the 4 note is the female. I do hear the male
a lot more than the female - sometimes he calls twice for every one of
her answers. Whoever said women talk more than men! HA!

Apparently they may have gone separate ways for awhile and are now
reforming the pair bond. I actually see one of them about every 2 or 3
days, either just after dusk or just before dawn - which means I don't
see any of the details. I think they are roosting just north of us
since the jays and chickadees seem to go nuts over there yelling at
something once or twice a day. It sure would be something if they
nested somewhere that I could watch!! Anyhow, thanks again everyone,
for the information. I learned a lot about my night time residents!
