For people like me, who are growing old, there are times when you wonder if we're still calling 'em Black-shouldered Kites of
if that dream-like memory of a change back to White-tailed Kite is reality. Maybe I'll just call them whities.

In any case, there was one today at the Old Pacific Powder site, aka West Rocky Prairie, in Thurston County. Me and my lucky
co-workers got to watch it hover and drop lazily in a twirling drop before it folded its wings in for a seriously quick
plunge, probably on some unsuspecting meadow mouse. Very nice, bright bird to see on an otherwise gray day.
