Sorry I'm a couple days late in posting, but here are my recent sightings of different birds around the Mukilteo Ferry dock.

Monday during my lunch walk to the beach a Pacific Loon popped to the surface about 25 feet in front of me. What a treat! The tide was pretty high and I was standing on a small exposed area of sand on the north side of the Silver Cloud and had been watching the goldeneyes by the ferry when the loon surfaced. I was really awed by the beautiful white throat and chin, contrasting with the dark nape and bill. It dove again very quickly and swam, equally quickly, underwater to resurface by the recently-installed pilings a bit further north, then repeated the diving and swimming until it was much further north towards Everett, but still staying near the shoreline.

I looked for the loon again yesterday, but it was not in evidence around the ferry terminal. However, this day, there were three Pelagic Cormorants and 10 Surf Scooters in with the Barrow's Goldeneyes, DC Cormorants, Red-brested Mergansers, and grebes feeding around the ferry terminal and pier.
