Subject: [Tweeters] Marymoor Park Report (Redmond, King Co., WA) 2005-11-23

Tweets - there wasn't much at Marymoor today except fog. That did lift
around noon, and the birding did improve, but even so we didn't see anything
particularly unusual today, and our total count was modest.

What we *did* have was some pretty good looks at "common" species; perhaps
they felt safer in the fog, being unable to see us very well either?

In any case, perhaps the most enjoyable was actually *seeing* 4-5 MARSH
WRENS, a species that has been particularly secretive of late, as well as a
WINTER WREN, another skulker at Marymoor.

Other highlights:

Cackling Goose One or more, of the larger subspecies
Lesser Scaup First of Fall, one a bit above the weir
Sharp-shinned Hawk Rising above the Rowing Club
Cooper's Hawk The usual immature in Snag Row
Pied-billed Grebe At least 9 at the lake, maybe 12 overall
Wilson's Snipe At least 4 at Rowing Club pond
Brown Creeper One near boathouse at Rowing Club
Western Meadowlark 3, East Meadow, Dog Meadow

For the day, 53 species, counting the Western Grebes I found later on the
lake.
