Today my nephew from Cleveland and I birded in the Tokeland and Westport
areas.

In Tokeland, near high tide it was easy to pick out the Bar-tailed
Godwit amidst the many Marbleds. Both of us had good looks, as did two
other people birding there.

At Westhaven State Park in Westport, an exceptionally light-mantled gull
flew into a pond to the right of where you can park and look out over the
bay. We examined it closely and found all the characteristics of a
second-year Glaucous Gull, among them the bi-colored bill, large size in
comparison to the nearby Western and Glaucous-winged Gulls, and pink legs,
in addition to the mantle and wing tips that lacked any black.
