Subject: [Tweeters] Snowy owl yard bird

In November of 1996, I was going to culinary school full time and
working in a restaurant, so I had no time at all to bird. I stopped
subscribing to tweeters, and was completely out of the birding loop. I
had no idea there was a big Snowy Owl invasion going on. At home on my
only day off of the week, I kept hearing the crows making a racket
around my Queen Anne, Seattle house. I looked out several times,
expecting to find a Red-tailed Hawk in the tree across the street, or
some such thing, but couldn't see anything. It wasn't until a few hours
later that my neighbor called me on the phone to ask me if I knew that
there was a big white owl on my roof! I ran outside, and sure enough,
there it was. It stayed there all day, ignoring the crows, and when
dusk came, it flew away. My best yard bird ever!

Subject: [Tweeters] Snowy owl yard bird

With all the recent sightings of Snowy Owl from Washington, I am
curious to know if anyone has been able to add this bird to his or her
yard list.
