Subject: [Tweeters] Anna's Hummer in Sammamish

I am at the south end of the Sammamish Plateau and there has been an Anna's Hummingbird in my yard for the past few weeks. This is the first year I have had an Anna's at this time of year. I used to work in the Eastgate area and would frequently see them there, but never here.

I put my hummingbird feeder back up. With the freezing weather I brought it in for the night. I have not seen the Anna's today.

Would any of you Sammamish/Issaquah residents routinely consider Anna's a
visitor to your yard?

I've been at this location for over 3 years, and I just saw my first "yard"
Anna's checking out my seed-filled tube feeder. Lucky for me, I was halfway
out the window trying to take pictures of a Townsend's Warbler when the
buzzing wings made me look up to see a stunningly bright male hovering 16
inches from my face.

I'm not sure which of the two of us was more surprised.
