A pair of Bald Eagles have been busy building nest along Hwy 20 in Anacortes. Been watching with a scope the past month. The tree is across from the big rock formation and can be seen driving out of Anacortes. The nest must be clearly visible taking the Tommy Thompson hiking trail along the waterway. There is a operational tug parked by a repair shop there and they fish off of that tug. There is also a cell phone tower nearby that Red Tails and Merlins like to sit on.
It is a neat hiking trail and a good place to wear off the chocolate donut you bought at the "Donut Shop" on Commercial.
Speaking of donuts..be sure to stop at "Rosalie's Garden and Bakery" on Farm to Market Road near Edison.(closed on Mondays) Try the apple cider donuts. They are delish !! This is the "Merritt Apple Farms" new operation. A flock of 200 plus Swans have been hanging out about a mile down the road from there.
Have fun!! Enjoy !
