Seattle CBC volunteers:

Just a heads up that we've somehow missed Brewer's Blackbirds the last several years on the Seattle CBC though I've heard rumors of same at various nearby mall parking lots (their favorite winter urban habitat). If you know of a place in the circle where they might be hanging out, please advise. Ditto for any other unusual birds, e.g., scrub-jays, owls, white-throated sparrows, etc. Thanks.

Seattle Audubon Christmas Bird Count



Saturday, December 31, 2005



Experienced birders, neighborhood residents, and newcomers are invited to help with this annual event, the Christmas Bird Count. Small teams search for birds throughout the greater Seattle area, Mercer Island, and greater Bellevue. Teams count from early morning to late afternoon. A required $5 participation fee covers the cost of compilation of data at the national level.



Sign up Online at www.seattleaudubon.org or call 206-523-8243 x80 by Wednesday, December 21. Volunteers may request a particular area, although we cannot always accommodate everyone's request.



Following the count, all participants are invited to a potluck at the Center for Urban

Horticulture from 5-7 pm (doors open at 4 pm) where the data will be compiled and announced. Soup and hot drinks will be provided. Please bring salad, dessert or bread.
