On Tuesday I spotted a Snowy Owl on the beach at the Taurus access. It was
perched on a log up close to the dunes, out in plain sight at 2PM. In
looking at the Sullivan's web site featuring their owl out on the game
range, "my" owl was clearly a different one. The bird was much lighter, with
the stripes on its body/wings both thinner and not as dark as the Sullivan's
photo.

I actually got into a verbal confrontation (my first!) with some people in a
pickup who twice flushed the bird and were trying to get close a third time
when I intervened, earning myself the usual final words in boorishness, but
at least they left the beach!
