Yesterday while birding at Ocean Shores I enjoyed a great opportunity to photograph a resting Osprey that just wouldn't want to leave his or her perch. The bird rested on a clump of driftwood along the sandy upper beach and allowed especially close views,as they bird remained undisturbed by the presence of me. I slowly and calmly moved closer and closer with my camera in hand. The bird seemed cautious,but allowed me to walk closer and eventually made noises as to announce to me that it knew I was there.It was the first time I ever came this close to an Osprey without the bird flying off and felt very fortunate. The bird eventually flew off,as it called and then landed on a sandy spit nearby. In many ways I felt that the bird had just consumed a meal and was just too tired to move from his or her perch. I have also placed several photos of 1-2 Pectoral Sandpipers within the same gallery for additional viewing,as well as a "proof" photo of the juvenile Bar-tailed Godwit at Bill's Spit that will hopefully remain for other birds to see.
