Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 6. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On October 1 a SPRAGUE?S PIPIT was at Cape Blanco. It could not be
relocated. A BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER continues to be seen at Malheur NWR
Headquarters. A CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR is now with a flock of LAPLAND
LONGSPURS at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

Large flocks of WHITE-FRONTED and CACKLING GEESE were reported during the
week. SANDHILL CRANES should now be peaking on Sauvie Island.

On October 1 two SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPERS and a RUFF were at the North Spit
of Coos Bay. Six golden-plovers are now on the spit, at least four are
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS. A LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen October 2 at the North
Jetty of the Siuslaw River.

The October 1 offshore boat trip out of Newport found two FLESH-FOOTED
SHEARWATERS and four SKUAS. On October 4 a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was in
Gearhart.

Recently 14 WHIE-TAILED KITES were seen along Rock Creek Road near Sherwood.
At least 130 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, and two
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS are now at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On October 4 a LEAST
FLYCATCHER was reported from Tumalo State Park west of Bend. A SABINE?S
GULL was seen October 2 at Lake Billy Chinook near Madras.
