Hello Mike,

Northern Alligator Lizzards are pretty common over here, I used to catch them near Pt. Deffiance when I was a kid. We also have Western Fence Lizzards (Swifts), these are common as well. The Alligator Lizzards get pretty big and their brown, the young ones are almost black on their sides. The Swifts are grey with blue bellies, a big stripe on each side. I've been bitten several times by the Alligator Lizzards so watch out.

Hi-

Today my daughter found an interesting herp in our backyard (Redmond). I
have never seen a lizard on the west side of the Cascades, but I am thinking
this is a Northern Alligator Lizard. Would any herp specialists be so kind
as to check out a picture and let me know what they think?

Thanks
