Hi Tweeters,

This afternoon, Saturday, 8 Oct I birded the Montlake Fill for a couple hours. Highlights were a 1st-winter Northern Shrike near path on the west side and a Western Scrub-Jay. The scrub-jay perched on a willow near the main pond, then flew west toward the stadium.

Waterfowl numbers are still pretty low, with only ~12 Green-winged Teal, 1 Northern Shoveler, and 2 Northern Pintail on the main pond, and relatively few Gadwall and American Wigeon on the bay. There was a fair amount of passerine activity with several large flocks of Yellow-rumps and sparrows around.
