Hi Tweeters,

I made a birding trip to Grays Harbor and Tokeland with Ken Orcutt and
Ralph Frew today. Our best sighting was a TROPICAL KINGBIRD at Bottle
Beach at about 11:30 a.m. just before the rains began. We had good
extended looks at the bird for about 10 minutes and were able to see its
large straight bill, greenish back, unmarked tail, and yellow undersides
extending up to the lower throat. We did not hear it call. It spent time
perched at the tops of several of the large spruce trees along the beach,
but also foraged from lower branches, which helped a lot with viewing.
The bird finally moved out of sight as it followed the beach to the
northeast.

We also visited the Tokeland marina in the afternoon and saw one
BAR-TAILED GODWIT among the flock of Marbled Godwits. All in all, it was
a very wet day!
