Hi all,

It?s a good thing Delia & I don?t have an overly high opinion of our own birding abilities, or we?d be even more nursing our wounds than we are. We retraced Patrick & Ruth Sullivan?s route around Dash Point a day later?to be fair, it was in the late afternoon, we deleted Nisqually, and let's see, I have a bum ankle today, but get this

We?re keeping our day jobs. We even met folks from the Sullivan?s trip who enthusiastically described some of the birds they saw. But we did get to witness an interesting event. 10 Crows were loafing in a tall Doug Fir at Saltwater State Park when suddenly a Merlin came in and attacked them. She got into a dogfight, broke off, left, and seconds later came hurtling back, into the Doug Fir foliage to flush individual resting crows and dogfight with them, time and again, for maybe 10 sorties over 5 minutes, before the crows all decamped & headed south. About 10 seconds later, she zipped across the sky & out of sight in the same direction.
