Here the highlights from a trip to the NE tip of the state that Mike Fleming
and I took this weekend. There was definitely too much driving involved in
this one ...

Prairie Falcon (1 at Ginkgo SP, 1 at Sprague Lake, 1 off US20 just east of
Coulee City)
Golden Eagle (1 overhead at Blue Lake)
Northern Pygmy-Owl (1 seen well at eastern end of Bunchgrass Meadows near
Mt. Salmo)
Boreal Owl (1 on Mt. Salmo on 10/08)
Three-toed Woodpecker (1 female at eastern end of Bunchgrass Meadows near
Mt. Salmo on 10/09)
Boreal Chickadee (~10 at eastern end of Bunchgrass Meadows near Mt. Salmo; 3
at Shedroof Mtn trailhead at Mt. Salmo on 10/09)
Ruffed Grouse (1 along FR22 en route to Mt. Salmo)
Slate-colored Dark-eyed Junco (1 at Davenport Cemetery on 10/08)
Long-billed Dowitcher (6 at Waitts Lake public boat launch, Stevens Co., on
10/08)
Chestnut-backed Chickadee (several off FR9522 at Little Pend Oreille NWR,
Stevens Co., on 10/08)
Surf Scoter (2 at Sun Lakes SP on 10/08, Grant Co.)
Tundra Swan (1 at Dry Falls overlook on 10/08; first fall record?)

We dipped on the Lesser Black-backed Gull in the Blue Lake area on 10/08,
yet had a 4 chickadee day on 10/09.

On a sad note, I will be moving to Sacramento, CA, in a few weeks. Thanks to
