We decide to try the fill on Sunday. We started over by the Urban Horticulture center and the Service Berry are bright red and gorgeous. There were quite a few Yellow-rumped warbler juveniles there in the bushes.

We walked up to the UW boat dock and then back. In all we counted 29 species for the day. This is the order in which we saw them:

The trees over by the boat dock were teeming with birds and they responded really well to pishing. There were dozens of robins and yellow-rumped warblers, cedar waxwings and bushtits.

not a single mammal in sight

We came home to our first male Varied Thrush of the season foraging through the fallen leaves in our yard. What a stunning bird. A Steller's Jay came down and foraged just like a thrush. We have not seen that behavior before.
