Hi, you all.
Male Golden-crowned Kinglets have orange crowns, female yellow. I get
to see them in my fountain regularly and can easily distinguish the
sexes when they are bathing, as their crowns get wet and spread out. In
spring, when they sing, male Golden-crowns expose that fiery orange
crown, and it looks as if the whole top of their head catches on fire.
Same with Ruby-crowned Kinglets, but the fire is darker. It's worth
seeing.
