How well I know the ravens of Anchorage! As a young man I worked at the ARCO
building, the tallest structure in the area. The ravens used to fly to the
rooftop and rip off the rubber sealer around the antennas installed there.
They'd waddle over to the side of the building and drop the rubber strips
onto the sidewalk 21 stories below. The removal of the sealers caused
leakage so every day so I was given the chore of chasing the ravens off the
roof. They'd merely fly to a nearby building and croak at me. It very
quickly became not only a game with the birds but was easily the best part
of the day.
