Subject: [Tweeters] Forecasting spring migrants - poss. concentration point:

Does anyone have information that would indicate the Longview-Rainier area
is a concentration point during the spring migration?
In the early 1970's I happened to see flocks or rather 'clouds' of small
migrants crossing the Columbia River. This was late one night as I left
work after one of those 14 or 15 hour days. The flocks caught my attention
as some of them flew into the illumination above the industrial area at
Longview. Was this crossing happening at a concentration area, and occuring
over a long duration this night? Or was the crossing happening on a broad
front up and down the Columbia River this particular night?
Can this crossing be forecast so that further observations could be made?
