Subject: [Tweeters] question re: wearing orange in hunt areas

Gary and Tweets,
Two weekends ago, we were at Fir Is. looking (unsuccessfully) for the N.
Waterthrush. Pheasant Hunters were out in force and the game warden was in
the parking lot. The hunters, of course, all wore orange. We encountered
another birding couple who said that the warden told them he was concerned
about the number of birders on the trail (only one couple was actually
orange-vested) but he did not turn anyone away. I know that doesn't speak
to the regulation, but in the many times I have shared the trail with
hunters--ok, somewhat nervously--I haven't been sent home for no orange.
(And hopefully you won't be reading my obituary in the Times anytime soon.)
