Tweets,
Yesterday Oct 15, 2005, Zach Elsner and I birded Bottle Beach,
Westport and Tokeland. The Bar-Tailed Godwit continues to hang around
the Marbled Godwits and a few Willet at the Tokeland Marina and was
observed by many birders. In addition Zach and I saw a CLARKS GREBE
among several Western and Common Loons. We had our first sighting of
the year of a single White-winged Scoter. In Westport we did not see
any Godwit in the marina even from Float 21. Our bad luck continued
as we arrived at Bottle Beach too late and the tide was too far out to
make a positive id on the large numbers of peeps feeding. One
highlight was a single Peregrine Falcon perched for a long time on one
of the posts out in the mudflat.
Cheers
