I am sure mountain chickadees are fairly run of the mill in the Spokane
area, but I was very excited to see my first one at Riverside State Park in
Spokane this weekend. As I was walking my dog along a trail (on leash of
course), she stopped to lap up some water from a small 'streamlet'. While I
stood there, the bird flew down to the water about five feet from me and
took a bath for about a minute. The white supercilium was very prominent!
My first life bird identified without binoculars!
