I lost the author's name from view, as I reply. But "SPGR" designation I used is from a list I copied a long time ago. What happens when there is a conflict with 2 species using the same abbreviationn? There obviously must be a more authoritative list out there for us little people to access.
As for the Spotted Greenshank, I wonder if maybe I saw one or more among all those hundreds of sandpipers of various species in the monsoon wetlands around Chu Lai, Vietnam back in 1968. I did identify some of those species. After the monsoon disapates in late fall and the water recedes from the flatlands, the shorebirds scatter to parts unknown.
