hi tweeters- at close to high tide~5:00 pm , i kayaked out to the spit at tulalip bay to see if the 2 marbled godwits i'd seen a few days ago remained . on my way out , i saw big flocks of SNOW GEESE flying overhead-this is the first time i've seen them here flying even tho' there are thousands up in port susan bay.(2 days ago). then i saw 8 western grebes that i kayaked right by.one of them was a non-breeding plumage CLARK'S GREBE-another 1st for me in tul.bay-when i got to the spit there was a large flock of bbplovers ?200-flying around -there were dunlins, western s/p, sanderlings +1 BAR-TAILED GODWIT-another 1st in this bay! i was so surprised because what spirit allows this to happen all in on hour?!!!- i kayaked back home to get my camera(about 12 min eachway-)- the godwit was still there but the birds were skittish + from my boat i couldn't get a pic-does anyone ot there have an interest in doing this ? higher tide is the key for good shorebird views-tomorrow-after~4pm.-i'll try again.
cheers,maxine reid
