I spent a few hours shuffling around Nisqually yesterday. It was the
quietest day I've had there. The highlight of the day was the Peregrine, and
he spent most of the day in his favorite fir tree looking rather disgusted,
I thought, with his lunch prospects. Other than an occasional glimpse of
movement in the brush, about the only thing I could "pish" up along the
river were about 50 crows. Around the ring dike were a half dozen wigeon, 1
green teal and a bittern. The trail to McCallister had a few mallards,
pintails and shovelers.Off in the distance a couple heron, a harrier and
several flocks of geese flying over. Along McCallister to the left some
songbirds, mostly robin, but towhee, finch, chickadee and bushtit were
represented. also one flicker and one golden-crowned sparrow.
Please excuse me for not capitalizing or highlighting, but it was that kind
of day. It was kinda gray and gloomy weather so maybe the birds were just
suffering a little seasonal affective disorder.
I did get a few pictures of the PEREGRINE FALCON and put 3 on the web. Link
