What you saw were probably "Cacklers" - a very small, mallard duck sized
Canada goose. I'm sure the experts will share with you all the details
related to the different Canada geese sub species. But Cacklers are the
most commonly sighted tiny goose seen around here this time of year. I once
saw a HUGE flock of cacklers on a man made pond in Kent one winter.

Can anyone help me w/ a goose identification.
I was at Blackmans Lake [Snohomish, WA] today and I saw lots of Canadian
Geese.
Also on the lake were a small group of geese that looked like miniature
Canadas.
About 3/4 the normal size, and their bills were shorter.
It could have been an optical illusion as they were farther away from
shore than most of the geese.
I have a picture. although the lighting isn't the best. if you want to
see it, I'll e-mail it to you.
