This week's issue Birds in the News (#32) features an
award-winning photograph of a Peregrine Falcon
pursuing a large flock of Starlings. This photo,
titled "Sky Chase", was selected from more than 17,000
international wildlife photographs to win the
photographer, Italian Manuel Presti, the coveted title
of Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The story is
near the bottom of the page. Another interesting story
-- provided by several readers -- discusses the Bald
Eagle, Old Abe, who helped win the Civil War in the
USA (I tracked down and included an actual newspaper
photo of Old Abe!). As usual, there are lots of
international news stories and photos about birds
presented on this weekly link harvest.
