Tweets - six of us headed up to Spencer Island (Everett, Snohomish Co., WA)
yesterday on a gorgeous day. It is a bit of a walk to get there, due to the
construction at the sewage plant. But it was a good trip.

Highlights:

Scaup sp. 3, probably Greater. My first for this fall.
American Bittern 1 near barn, posed nicely
OSPREY 1 flying south over barn
Cooper's Hawk 1 from Langus Waterfront Park
Thayer's Gull At least 1 in the river west of the sewer plant
Hairy Woodpecker Always nice to see
Pileated Woodpecker 3 together, N. end of island. Life bird for Etta.
Northern Shrike Immature in snags near S.I. bridge
Purple Finch 1 male *with* House Finches (I never see them
together)

The Pileateds gave us a great show, as they moved around snags together.
There was one male and two females. Lots of calling, some posing and head
bobbing. We had great light, so even with distant scope views we could see
them fabulously.
