2005. For questions regarding LCBAS, please leave a message.

name, phone number, date, and sightings after the tone.

Due to a power cord failure, messages left in the Alert message boxes were
lost since the last update on September 29. Please feel free to call them
in again or send them to Bill at wlafra at owt.com for the sightings column in
the Curlew.

On October 20, Mike and MerryLynn Denny found a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER at
McNary National Wildlife Refuge in Burbank. It was seen off and on during
the next day, but as of this recording, it was not seen on Saturday. This
is only the third Washington record for Prothonotary Warbler. Both
previous observations were in 1970. The refuge is located off Highway 12
just east of the Snake River Bridge. From Hwy 12, turn left on Hwy 124
(road to Hood Park). Go approximately 1 mile and turn right on Lake Road
and right again on Maple Road. Park at the refuge parking lot. Walk along
the sidewalk toward the blind. The bird has been in the Russian
olive/phragmites and other undergrowth as the sidewalk bends toward the blind.

Also, Bill Keiser reported a SNOWY EGRET along the Yakima River upstream
from Twin Bridges in West Richland.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number, date,
and sightings after the tone. Thank you.
