Hi,

I know that murres are considered common to lots of you. I have not gotten close enough to very many to really identify them.
Today, I had a real treat!!!
I saw a common murre in non breeding plumage at the boat launch at Point Hudson in Port Townsend.
It was on the ramp about 12-15 feet from me, preening, flapping wings, resting, and preening again. I talked to it, and it listened, tilting its head this way and that way. This was 11:40 this morning. I watched it about 10 minutes.
It reminded me of a penguin, the way it was standing there!
