Pretty much everything our current administration has it's fingers in becomes a negative quality of life issue. I too have been curtailing birding trips this year, outside of bird survey work I did this summer, where I could write off my miles. I haven't been to the coast once this year, and only over to the east side of the mountains once. And I get good mileage! C'est la vie, I still got almost 300 species this year. Cheers!

I'll answer with a resounding YES! Quick trips here and there to see a few birds have become a bit costly, especially since a fill-up runs close to $40 or more. I try to bike more but long lenses and cameras make that pretty difficult. It's also a tough bike ride from here to George Reifel and Boundary Bay. Don't think I've ever tried to cross the border on a bike. Hmmmm......
