Especially for those of you who like to take digiscope shots of da birdies
but have a heck of a time getting the scope on the bird . . .

I've been lurking on the Yahoo Digiscoping group and got introduced to a
great solution. I just rigged up a Red Dot sight (used as airgun or pistol
sights mostly) on top of the scope (temporarily using good old duct tape),
and it works *very* well. The sight does *not* beam a laser of light out to
the target, but rather shines the little red dot light within the sight
itself on a see-through mirrored plate. Very slick.

They cost around $30-$50 depending on the size you get, though I'm glad I
went for a larger one (42mm) for better field of view. I found mine on
eBay. It's going to enable me to get many more shots than I otherwise would
have missed by having to semi-haphazardly hunt around for the target bird
with the camera on full zoom.
