Mike and MerryLyne Denny found an adult, male PROTHONOTARY WARBLER at the
McNary NWR headquarters in Burbank, Walla Walla Co, WA on 20 Oct. The bird
persisted for several days in the dense Russian-olives directly south of the
photo blind to the northwest of the HQ buildings. On 27 Oct, MerryLynn found
a first winter SWAMP SPARROW and a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW in the same
general vicinity.
A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was seen and photographed in Cove, Union Co OR on 27
Oct. The bird was in the yard of Ed Bailey and photographed by Trent Bray.
The bird was originally found near Chadwick Road but was relocated across
from the Artesian Water Plant via HWY 237 in Cove near a small pond. There
is a green gate and a pullout from where the bird was found.
Two WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were on Sprague Lake, Lincoln Co WA on 28 Oct. They
were seen by Terry Little. Sprague Lake straddles the Lincoln and Adams
county line just south of I-90. WA DeLorme 71, BC-8.
Terry Little reports 2 TRUMPETER SWANS at the Reardan Ponds, Lincoln Co WA
on 28 Oct. The ponds are just north of Reardan. From US 2, go north 0.25
mile north on WA 231. WA DeLorme 88, C-1.
On 28 Oct Terry Little found a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW in Riverside State
Park in Spokane Co WA. Go northwest out of Spokane on Highway 291 past the
Nine Mile Dam and past Charles Road which takes you over the Spokane River.
About another 0.25 mile, turn left into this section of Riverside State
Park. Once in the park, take an immediate right and go until you come to a
wooden fence. At this point, there are two bushy areas just to your right.
Good birding.
