Hi folks, I've been driven to reach out for a little info from my fellow
birders by the lovely, loud Scrub Jay. How common are Western Scrub-Jays in
Seattle? I don't recall having seen one in Seattle until this Fall. I
heard one earlier in the Fall and then saw two this morning in a copse of
trees running between my apartment building and several others near downtown
Ballard. The "County Occurrence of Birds" Excel spreadsheet that is
available on the Washington Ornithological Society website suggests the
general status as "harder to find, usually seen annually" in King County
Washington. Have I just missed seeing this bird here before, or is it more
common than I thought? Does anyone know what "usually seen annually" means
in terms of actual number of sightings?

Many thanks for your help,

Peggy Murray
