I talked with the Methow Valley Visitor's Center, and the Chelan Ridge HawkWatch site IS up and running.

Does anyone know about a Hawk Watch this fall on Chelan Ridge? I've found information on the Internet for previous years, but nothing for this year.

We've been watching ospreys from our windows overlooking the Columbia River. It's my understanding that they always carry the fish so their head is into the wind even if they pluck it out of the water the other way. That behavior is one of the curious things about birds that make them so interesting to study. Why do they do that?
