Hi Tweets,

On Thursday (9/1) some friends and I spent the day in and around Quincy, WA.
We spotted a BURROWING OWL at a burrow on road 10.7, NW of road L NW. The bird
was the darkest Burrowing Owl I have seen. It was on the north side of the
road, along some railroad tracks (south side of the tracks). There was a small
amount of white wash outside of the burrow. The bird did not appear to be
banded. Anyone know if this is a known nest? I'm sure it is but I can't remember
Burrowing Owls being reported near Quincy before.
A few other interesting birds included:
A very, very dark Red-tailed Hawk (adult) eating a snake about a mile before
we spotted the owl.
Many dark-morph Swainson's Hawks, American Kestrels, and Red-tailed Hawks.
Tons of California Quail, Black-billed Magpies, a few Common Nighthawks, and a
Great-horned Owl at dusk.
