Hi Ed and Tweeters,

That auklet is definitely in trouble! Any alcid on shore outside of
breeding season is probably sick or has somehow lost its waterproofness.

My best advice is to catch it and take it to PAWS in Lynnwood. They have
the necessary warm water circulating tanks to properly rehabilitate
these specialized birds. I don't know of any rehab facility closer to
you that has these capabilities.

Good Luck!

Today Steve Caldwell found an apparently juvenile Rhino Auklet at Pt.
Robinson on Vashon Island.? It was determinedly moving up the beach over
logs toward the bluffs.
