Subject: [Tweeters] Surfbird in Thurston County

Tweeters,
I spent yesterday on the salt water in areas from Boston Harbor to
Nisqually. Bird activity was actually remarkably low. The best and only
bird of note was a flyby Surfbird north of Boston Harbor, just past the
morning high tide. The actual location was at Little Fish Trap (not shown
on many maps) and is really only accessible from the water. A Sanderling
was there earlier in the week. Otherwise I was surprised to find very low
numbers of all species, and no Common Terns or Bonepartes Gulls.
Good Birding,
Bill Shelmerdine, Olympia
