The Horan Nature Area at the confluence of the Wenatchee and
Columbia rivers was a great place to be this past Sunday morning. We added the beautiful Great Egret to our life list, though we don't have a physical list. Now you know for sure that we are beginners.

I got a little help with the identification from a wildlife biologist. I was leaning toward a Great White Heron, but my friend said they are only found in the east.

Another first for us was seeing an osprey eating a fish on the limb of a dead tree near the foot bridge over the

Wenatchee
River.

Red-tailed hawk
Killdeer
Great blue heron
Great egret
Osprey

Our IDs are much fewer than most, but we are havingfun anyway.
