Hello Tweeters,

While driving up to Harts Pass from Mazama on Saturday morning, a NORTHERN
HAWK OWL flew across the road and perched on top of a burned out snag.
Three of us got some great looks of the bird perched and in flight as it
changed trees a couple of times before flying off. What a bird! We were
about a mile or so from Harts Pass, in a burned out section of forest, when
we saw it.

We were not properly dressed for the chilly temperatures and wind, so our
alpine outing ended up being a short out-and-back. Nonetheless, in addition
to the Northern Hawk Owl, we enjoyed watching a mixed flock of Mountain
Bluebird, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Mountain Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos, and
Chipping Sparrows foraging about below Slate Peak, and spotted some Common
Ravens perched further below.
