Hi Tweets,

I spent part of the day searching out migrants in the Grant County. While
not overly loaded with birds, there was a definite decline in human beings
after the last big summer fling. This made the birding much more enjoyable.
Several highlights were noted during the day, with the best bird being a
LEAST FLYCATCHER which was observed for an extended period of time at the
city park in Hartline (it takes me an extended period to determine Empid
species). :-)
A Lewis's Woodpecker also made an appearance in Coulee City. Not an easy
bird for the county, at least not for me.
A large number of Yellow-rumps arrived and at least three of the Myrtle
race were noted at Potholes State Park.
Two early Golden-crowned Kinglets at Sun Lakes State Park were a surprise.
Lincoln Sparrow were everywhere and were quite cooperative for a change.
In the warbler category Orange-crowned, Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Wilson's,
Townsend's, Nashville, and Common Yellowthroat were observed in several
locations.
Sparrows included Spotted Towhee, White-crowned, Lincoln's, Chipping, and
Song.

All in all a good day to be out.

Cheers
