Subject: [Tweeters] Jaeger species

Hi Tweets,

I hesitate to post this lest you think I have lost what little faculties I
have, but yesterday on the way to Washtucna (along SR-26 in the middle of
nowhere) Barb and I noticed a bird flying southward in the early morning
glow of the eastern sky. The silhouetted bird appeared at first glance to be
a falcon of some sort due to the long, pointed, thin wings. As we closed the
gap I noted to barb that it flew like a gull and what the **** was a gull
doing out here in the middle of nowhere. As it crossed the road in front of
us I noted that the two central retrices were very long and pointed. Stunned
I managed to pull off of the road, but was unable to see where the bird had
gone. Keep an eye peeled along the Snake River, as this is the direction the
bird was heading. No ID was possible due to the light conditions, but I am
certain it was either a Parasitic or Long-tailed Jaeger. Very weird.

Cheers
