A 'first summer' green heron was attracting lots of attention on the west
side of Green Lake Sunday afternoon. It was easy to view from the walking
path as it stood on one of the turtle logs for quite some time. Although
they were familar with this species from other states and other
countries, none of those watching and discussing had ever seen one
anywhere near Green Lake. Indeed, several said they had never seen one in
Washington.
