A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen 10 Sep at Lyons Ferry State Park, Franklin Co
WA by Doug Schonewald, Steve Mlodinow, Bob Flores, and John Walsh. The bird
rode up a thermal and departed. Lyons Ferry Park is right in the corner of
Franklin, Whitman, Columbia and Walla Walla counties. Access via WA 261. WA
DeLorme 55, D-6.5.

At Sprague Lake, which straddles the Lincoln and Adams county line in WA on
9 Sep, Terry Little reports 3 SABINE'S GULLS (2 ad and 1 juv) and a single
SANDERLING. At Sheep Lake just south of Sprague, Terry found a single
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER. WA DeLorme 71, BC-8.

In Idaho, a single BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was at Mann Lake, Nez Perce Co on 10
Sep according to Terry Gray. From the north end of Lewiston, follow US 12
south into town, cross the Clearwater River on Memorial Bridge and
immediately take the first left (east) toward East Lewiston. Turn left
(east) onto East Main Street and go about a half mile to the flashing yellow
lights. Turn right (south) onto Lapwai (a.k.a. Lindsay Creek) Road. When the
road forks stay right on Lindsay Creek Road (Nez Perce County Road 460) and
follow it about 5 miles to its terminus at Grelle Avenue. Turn left (east)
onto Grelle Avenue and just past the sharp right curve, turn left (east)
onto East Powers Avenue (a.k.a. Lapwai Road). Continue straight (east) past
the grain towers to the main parking lot. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

On 10 Sep Jim Acton found an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and "several"
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS at Sheep Lake, Whitman Co WA. Sheep Lake is in extreme
northwestern Whitman Co along WA 23 about a mile south of the Lincoln Co
line. WA DeLorme 72, C-1.

CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS were reported region-wide. The most unusual siting was
one was at Perch Point in Grant Co WA on 8 Sep by Gina Sheridan and Doug
Schonewald. That same day they found a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER at Sun
Lakes State Park. Perch Point gravel pit [aka Medicare Beach] on Potholes
Reservoir, Grant Co WA. Potholes Reservoir is southeast of Moses Lake. From
I-90 in Moses Lake, take exit 179. Turn south on WA 17 and go about 1 mile,
then turn right onto Road M SE. Drive about 6 or 6.5 miles and turn right
onto Road 6 SE. Go west about 3 miles. Here the road goes up a steep hill
and turns sharply right amongst a village of trailer houses. Just past this
sharp right, turn left onto an unimproved dirt road toward Potholes
Reservoir. Continue on to the gravel pit (aka Perch Point or Medicare
Beach). Right on the bottom of WA DeLorme 69, 6 and 7 or right at the top of
page 53, 6 and 7.
